Witches of Eastwick, The Lyrics

Plot Summary of "The Witches of Eastwick".

"The Witches of Eastwick" is a darkly humorous musical set in the fictional town of Eastwick, Rhode Island. The plot follows three bored and lonely women—Alexandra Spofford, Jane Smart, and Sukie Rougemont—who dream of escaping their small-town routine. Unwittingly, they summon their ideal man in the form of Darryl Van Horne, a charismatic and devilish figure whose arrival in Eastwick turns the town upside down.

As Darryl ingratiates himself with Alex, Jane, and Sukie, he begins awakening latent magical abilities in each woman. The trio discovers a thrilling new sense of power and confidence, which they channel through their connection to Darryl. However, the community, led by the uptight Felicia Gabriel, quickly grows suspicious and scandalized by Darryl's influence and the women’s new, liberated behavior.

In a climactic confrontation, the witches use their newfound powers to curse Felicia, leading to disturbing and uncontrollable consequences. This turn of events causes them to rethink their relationship with Darryl, fearing his influence may be darker than they initially thought. As Darryl’s control intensifies, he sets his sights on Felicia’s innocent daughter, Jennifer, even proposing marriage to cement his power in Eastwick.

Realizing the danger Darryl poses, Alex, Jane, and Sukie unite to break free from his spell. In a final showdown, they banish Darryl from Eastwick in a fiery spectacle, restoring order and peace to the town. Having reclaimed their independence, the three women embrace their own strength and newfound self-confidence, learning that the true source of their power lies within themselves and their friendship.
