The song encapsulates the characters' deceit in the summer of 1987 in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, the story follows 18-year-old Ana Garcia, portrayed by Tatianna Córdoba. Ana aspires to attend Columbia University, but her plans are complicated when her family's garment business secures a crucial order for 200 dresses. She must navigate her personal ambitions alongside her family's expectations, particularly those of her mother, Carmen, played by Justina Machado. The musical adaptation of Josefina López's 1993 play, Ana, follows a first-generation Mexican immigrant girl torn between joining her family's garment business or attending college in NYC. The cast includes Justina Machado as Carmen Garcia, Florencia Cuenca as Estela, Shelby Acosta as Prima Flaca, Carla Jimenez as Pancha, Aline Mayagoitia as Itzel, Mason Reeves as Henry, Jennifer Sánchez as Rosalí, Sandra Valls as Prima Fulvia, and Mauricio Mendoza as Raúl Garcia.
