Illinoise synopsis
Illinoise is a 2023 dance revue musical with music and lyrics by Sufjan Stevens and an original story by Justin Peck and Jackie Sibblies Druryβthe musical conception developed from Stevens's 2005 album Illinois. A chorus of dancers are friends who listened to stories around a campfire and compared stories about someone's childhoods and teen years, and a new member to that circle, Henry, finally shares how being gay informed his early relationships and friendships.
