Hell's Kitchen synopsis
Jukebox musical Hell's Kitchen has Alicia Keys's music and lyrics and a book by Kristoffer Diaz. The semi-autobiographical program chronicles Keys's 1990s Manhattan childhood. Part of the 2023β24 season at The Public Theater, the musical played from October 24, 2023, to January 14, 2024. April 20, 2024 saw the show's Broadway premiere at the Shubert Theatre. Theatre critics gave the initial Off-Broadway and Broadway runs high marks, hailing the musical as one of the best jukebox musicals ever, and Maleah Joi Moon, Shoshana Bean, and Kecia Lewis garnered accolades for their acting work. The shows were nominated for Drama League, Lucille Lortel, and Drama Desk Awards. The Broadway production and Stereophonic tied for the most nominations at the 77th Tony Awards, including Best Musical, with 13 nominations each.
