Sister Act The Musical musical description

This theatrical was written by B. & C. Steinkellner, music belongs to A. Menken, lyrics – to G. Slater. The important role played additional book material by D. C. Beane in the process of developing. Staging is based on the eponymous comedy movie of 1992, in which the main role played Whoopi Goldberg. It tells the story of a little-known singer Deloris, who has seen with own eyes how the murder was accomplished. Now, she is obliged to participate in the program for the protection of witnesses, according to which she will need to become a nun in a monastery.

The opening of the show on the West End was held at London Palladium Theatre in June 2009. Prior to this, all comers have seen previews that lasted more than twenty days, beginning from May of that year. Director's chair was occupied by P. Schneider, choreographer was A. V. Laast. In addition to these two in the production team were involved: scenic designer K. Zieglerova, costume designer L. Brotherston & lighting designer N. Katz. In the main role was 24-year-old P. Miller. The rest of the characters played by: S. Hancock, I. Levander & A. Mitchell. Closure of the histrionics was in October 2010. The show was quickly moved off the stage, because it was necessary to make room in this theater for the long-awaited premiere of The Wizard of Oz.

Critics’ opinions about the play have divided. I. Shuttleworth from ‘The Financial Times’ pointed out that the story was full of flaws, but at the same time, the play itself was hardly mindless. In turn, C. Spencer from ‘The Telegraph’ said that the project is more pleasant on the scene, rather than on tape. According to him, applause and a standing ovation at the end of the second act have been genuine and totally deserved.
