In the Heights musical (2007)

The show is based upon a book, written by Q. A. Hudes. L.-M. Miranda wrote music & lyrics for this histrionics. The action actually takes place in the Big Apple. We can see population from Dominican republic, these people live in Washington.

This musical appeared for the 1st time in the United States of America in 2005. The Broadway version took place only in 2008, after numerous off-Broadway runs. However, that version appeared to be quite successful. It was nominated for 13 Tonies & it actually won four amongst them. The awards were the following: Best Musical, Best Score, Choreography & Orchestrations. By the way, the choreographer was A. Blankenbuehler, while A. Lacamoire & B. Sherman – those, who were responsible for the orchestra.

Besides, a Broadway production managed to receive one Grammy, which was given for its album. In 2009, the show was nominated for Pulitzer Prize as well. Its first staging on Broadway took place at Richard Rodgers Theatre. For this version, Kail with Blankenbuehler were a director & a choreographer, respectively. Beautiful costumes were created by P. Tazewell & H. Binkley was responsible for lighting. In general, there have been more than 1000 performances of this spectacle. It has become the 82nd longest running show in the history of Broadway.
